The Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County joins more than 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs across the country in celebrating National Boys & Girls Club Week, March 22-28.
The week is meant to celebrate the positive impact the Clubs bring to their communities and the life-changing experience the programs have on Club members. These programs fall into six core areas: character and leadership; education and career; health and life skills; the arts; sports, fitness and recreation; and community service. Activities in these areas all support the Boys & Girls Club’s overarching goal to help each child reach their full potential and BE GREAT by securing academic success, living a healthy lifestyle and distinguishing themselves as young leaders.
To help support this concept of living a healthy lifestyle, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has partnered with Cartoon Network to host “Get Animated Day” at its Clubs on Tuesday, March 24. The network has donated four red rubber playground balls to 4,300 Boys & Girls Clubs, including Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, encouraging them to promote the importance of daily movement for all children.
Other planned activities during Boys & Girls Club Week include:
Educational trivia games, “Let’s Get Techy With It” and Spirit & Family day at the Vero Beach Club
Community service projects, a pool tournament and “Are You Smarter Than a Team Leader?” at the Teen Center
Torch Club beach cleanup project, an ELC nature walk, and Healthy Habits activities at the Sebastian Club
