Mission
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC)
is to create and increase volunteer opportunities that enrich the youth of Indian River County,
address community needs and develop lifetime commitments to service.
 What is the YVC?
The Youth Volunteer Corps offers community service opportunities to middle and high school students all over Indian River County. Each team of youth volunteers is led by a trained Team Leader. Supervised volunteer projects may be for one day, a week, or all season long. Training for the team is provided by the Boys & Girls Clubs' YVC Director or the Team Leader.
Projects include working with seniors, assisting adults with disabilities, planning and working at community events, participating in beach and park clean ups, assisting at animal refuges, and working with children at a Boys & Girls Club. In addition, YVC provides elementary schools with youth volunteer tutors in its highly successful after school peer tutoring program called BASES.
In 2008, 300 teens have already completed 5,500 hours of service!
