Programs

Indian River County Boys & Girls Clubs offer two programs:  the after school program which runs during the school year, and the summer youth development program which is a continuation of our after school program, but open 11 hours a day for 10 weeks during the summer months.

We nurture young people's self-esteem by instilling in them a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence and competence. Clubs do this daily by providing young people with one-on-one relationships with caring adult professionals and fun, age-appropriate, well-rounded programming.

Measurable outcomes are based on providing our young people with positive self-identity; educational competency; social, emotional and cultural competencies; commmunity and civic involvement; health and well-being; and moral compass.

Character & Leadership Development
We empower young people to support and influence their community, sustain meaningful relationships, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and others’ cultural identities.

Education & Career Development
We enable young people to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to optimize employability.

Health & Life Skills
We develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and develop the skills necessary to live successfully as self-sufficient, contributing adult.

The Arts
We empower young people to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of visual, tactile, and/or performing arts.

Sports, Fitness & Recreation
We develop fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, and social and interpersonal skills.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, we add a sixth core program to our list...volunteerism. We believe it is important for our youth to understand and appreciate the importance of giving back to the community, as well as providing a safe and structured outlet for earning community service hours.
